Last week, Louise – PP’s very own Responsible Sourcing Manager – launched our first ever sustainability week! The goal was to raise awareness of some of the ways we, as a company, can work together to improve our sustainability and help the planet. All the offices got involved in a series of exciting eco activities over the week and learnt lots about how to reduce our carbon footprint!
To start off the week, the Production team talked through some of the sustainable changes we have made to our products and some of the ideas we have for the future. They then challenged our directors to Who Wants to be a Puzzlionaire! – a great game show designed to test them on their sustainability knowledge.
The team also talked us through our new sustainability webpage and the logos that can be found on our products. To find out more about our sustainability journey, click here!
On Wednesday, the Bristol and Twickenham offices hosted their first ever Swap Shops! Puzzlers brought in their pre-loved goods for other thrifty employees to peruse. There were many interesting gems to discover – from classic DVDs to sparkly dresses to Halloween costumes!
On Thursday, we were clearing up the streets of Twickenham and Chicago! The teams completed two very successful litter picks with lots of rubbish collected. Splitting up into groups, we took different routes close to our offices and filled our bags. It was great to see how much difference we could make in a short amount of time and it has definitely inspired us to do more litter picks in our local areas!
After a successful litter pick, the Twickenham team headed to the car park for the evening social. Local restaurant Greek Unique provided some delicious food with no plastic packaging! After a few talks from Ben and Louise – our Founder and Responsible Sourcing Manager – the popcorn was dished out and everyone settled down to watch an episode of David Attenborough’s Planet Earth II.
Throughout the week we had our very own Second-Hand Ambassadors. Jake and Jess D were championing Second-Hand September by wearing a different, entirely pre-loved outfit each day. We finished off the week with a selection of homemade baked goods and sweet treats! The team were encouraged to attempt to make their bakes vegan-friendly or to use reusable and sustainable materials when cooking. Hats off to the chefs, these were delicious!
